Job Description

Production Operator – 1st Shift
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

General Summary:
The Production Operator is responsible for the setup and operation of equipment used to blend, mix, package, and transport liquid or dry chemicals for customer products. This position ensures the highest quality output at the lowest possible cost, while meeting customer specifications and delivery requirements in accordance with *** Corporation policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set up, start, and operate machinery, ensuring all controls adhere to operating and safety procedures as well as ISO standards.

  • Weigh ingredients to meet recipe specifications and insert them into machinery, or ensure pre-blended materials are delivered and loaded properly.

  • Monitor production processes and equipment to maintain safe and efficient operation; troubleshoot equipment and processing issues as needed.

  • Operate machinery for mixing, extruding, discharging, and handling materials according to established operating procedures.

  • Examine materials visually or physically to ensure conformance with established quality standards.

  • Collect samples for laboratory evaluation and follow instructions for any necessary batch adjustments.

  • Refer any issues or problems to the Production Lead or Shift Supervisor for resolution.

  • Perform routine and scheduled machine cleaning and maintenance.

  • Complete and maintain all required system inputs, transactions, and documentation to ensure data integrity.

  • Accurately document completed work, including logs, data reports, and procedures.

  • Participate in ongoing training, retraining, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Follow all safety rules and maintain compliance with work regulations; uphold high housekeeping standards in the department.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical and Environmental Demands:

While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to:

  • Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.

  • Communicate clearly (talk and/or hear).

  • Occasionally sit.

Physical requirements include:

  • Frequently lifting/moving up to 55 lbs; occasionally handling items up to 250 lbs.

  • Specific vision abilities may include close vision, distance vision, color differentiation, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Work environment considerations:

  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as dictated by the work area, including but not limited to: safety glasses, safety shoes, dust masks, hard hats, respirators, face shields, hearing protection, chemical suits, gloves, and aprons.

  • Exposure to moderate noise levels, with higher levels in designated areas (PPE required).

  • Frequent exposure to wet/humid conditions, dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemical dust, vibration, and outside weather conditions.

  • Occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electric shock, and moving mechanical parts.

Reporting Structure:
Reports to: Plant Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Production Supervisor, Shift Supervisor/Lead, or Production Lead.
