Job Description and Duties

This position is a non-telework position located in Gorman, California.

Responsible to monitor, direct, and coordinate with the Project Operation Control Center, dispatchers, and local maintenance forces, the overall operations of Southern Field Division. Monitor and direct, on-job training of Journey Hydroelectric Plant Operators, and Hydroelectric Plant Operator Apprentices. Will be required to work rotating shifts with varying days off and overtime may be required based on work needs.

Special Requirements

This is a sensitive position and is subject to substance abuse testing set forth in California Department of Human Resources (Cal-HR) Regulations 599.960-599.966.  

This position has frequent access to areas designated as containing critical cyber assets in accordance with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) reliability standards and therefore a satisfactory background check is required prior to appointment and at least every seven years thereafter.

Must have a valid California Class C license as incumbent will be required to operate automotive vehicles on public roadways, travel to remote areas within the field division is necessary to perform the requirements of this position.

  • Experience with operations of hydroelectric pumping and generating facilities.
  • Knowledge and experience with safety policies, procedures, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of SAP functions and planning and scheduling processes. 
  • Proficient in the use of various computer word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications and be willing to learn new technological tools and to incorporate them in daily tasks.
  • Be reliable, punctual, and willingness to work irregular hours.
  • Be self-motivated and have good work ethic.
  • Interpersonal skills: The ability to work independently, as well as cooperatively and productively, in a team atmosphere with colleagues having different disciplinary backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate the ability to be accountable.
