Job Classification: Entry Level Firefighter

Shoreline Fire Department is hiring for the position of Entry Level Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). New hires will be required to successfully complete a Fire Academy and EMT Class totaling approximately 18-weeks prior to being assigned to shift as a Probationary Firefighter.

All testing must be completed by May 23, 2025 at 4:00pm.

Go to National Testing Network site, and choose Shoreline Fire Department under firefighter jobs.
Complete FireTEAM testing through National Testing Network within the previous year (between May 22, 2024 and May 23, 2025).
Complete a valid CPAT test within the previous year (between May 22, 2024 and May 23, 2025). Verifiable CPAT certifications will be accepted from NTN or a licensed testing facility.
The Department does not require the candidate PHQ.
If you are a Veteran requesting Veteran's preference, submit Veteran's Scoring Criteria Form, and 'Form DD214' or 'NGB 22' to us by May 23, 2025 at 4:00 p.m.

Testing Fee Waiver: Shoreline Fire Department participates in NTN's fee waiver program to help our applicants with a financial need to afford testing fees. To find out more and to apply, visit NTN's FAQ page on their website.

Salary Information, 2024 rates: $7,472.85 (0-12 months) - $10,675.50 (top step FF, 5+ years). Subject to change with new updated 2025 contract.

Department Information: Located north of Seattle, the Shoreline Fire Department is an all hazards fire department providing services to the communities of Kenmore, Lake Forest Park, Shoreline, and the Town of Woodway with a combined population of over 90,000. Personnel work a four platoon, 24-hour shift schedule. The Department not only responds to fire, EMS and rescue emergencies, but also provides a full range of non-emergency services including fire prevention, public education, and professional training.

The creation of the Shoreline Regional Fire Authority in February 2025 strengthens our capacity, resources, and future sustainability by combining the Shoreline and Northshore Fire Departments. We are a vibrant and growing fire department.

All firefighters are Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT). In addition, firefighters have the opportunity to certify as Technical Rescue Technicians (TRT), Water Rescue Team members, and Wildland Team members. The Department also participates in the world-renowned King County Medic One Program.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

· Age Requirement: Candidates must be at least 20 years of age or older by January 1, 2026.

· Educational Requirement: Candidates must have a high school diploma or have passed an equivalency test (GED).

· Driver's License: Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and be insurable under the Department's vehicle policy. A valid Washington State driver's license must be obtained within 60 days of date of hire.

· Written Examination by National Testing Network: A written test completed within the past 1 year (between May 22, 2024 and May 23, 2025)

· CPAT: A validated current CPAT test completed within the past 1 year (between May 22, 2024 and May 23, 2025)

· Eligible to work in the United States
