Since 1971, the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board has provided a comprehensive continuum of high-quality, essential, and community-based services to citizens of the Peninsula who are living with mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders.
As a Clinical Psychologist of our dynamic, multidisciplinary team of psychiatric providers, clinicians, and care coordinators you will serve children and families with complex needs, leveraging strong partnerships with stakeholders and local agencies in the cities of Hampton and Newport News to deliver the highest quality care to our community.
Our commitment to a Collaborative Care Model, rooted in Trauma-Informed and Evidence-Based Practices, ensures comprehensive and compassionate services. In this role, you will conduct psychological assessments, oversee evaluations, and work closely with interdisciplinary teams to enhance and refine evaluation processes. Additional responsibilities include community consultations, clinical supervision, and the ability to manage a small therapy caseload and provide capacity evaluations for adult IDD clients -all within a supportive and professional environment that values your expertise and dedication.
To be successful as a Clinical Psychologist at the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, a comprehensive skill set is essential. Candidates must possess a degree in Clinical Psychology with one year of clinical experience, particularly working with emotionally troubled children and impacted families, as it forms the foundation for conducting comprehensive psychological evaluations and therapy.
A strong background in trauma-informed care and evidence-based practices will enhance your ability to meet the complex needs of our diverse clientele. Additionally, as a licensed Clinical Psychologist with the Virginia Board of Psychology, you should be proficient in various software and tools applicable to psychological assessments and documentation, enabling effective collaboration with team members. Strong communication skills, empathy, and a commitment to integrity are vital in fostering a supportive environment for both clients and colleagues.
